Smaller Than One Thousand

Alan Chalker, another old friend of the contest, is our winner for the K-Node Challenge, with one of his many entries named Node Tweak (id 2907). I suspect Alan is relieved not to have to give unique names to his entries anymore, since his most recent 200 entries have a total of five distinct names between them. Congratulations, and welcome back to the winner’s circle Alan!

These mini-contests are good practice for the final rush on Wednesday: remember to pace yourself, because you are limited to no more than ten entries every ten minutes. You don’t want to save your best entry for the last minute, only to find that you’ve exhausted your quota just as time is expiring. Sock puppet accounts are frowned upon. Remember, to claim the prize you would have to come forward and confess that you were running multiple accounts.

    So do I get a cool badge / nerd ribbon to?

    Hi Alan:

    Your player page has been updated with all appropriate nerd ribbons in place (at least for this contest).

  3. Alan Chalker replied on :

    Thanks Ned.. I love the various icons you all picked.

    Ned, do you think you folks could make the nerd ribbon text link to the contest page and/or the entry that one that stage of the contest like:

    K-Node Challenge Prize (Sensor) % <’Sensor’ as hyperlink

    It would help in the future when the badges start to accumulate for older contests…

    Also, would it be possible to show the nerd ribbons on the File Exchange author home pages as well? What about adding a (sortable by count) column to the main File Exchange page with the author badges, and possibly add the badges to each file’s page next to the author name?

    This could serve two purposes:
    - for the user, as they browse/sort the File Exchance main page it might provide additional information as to the potential quality of a file submission (contest winners tend to be senior contributors with high coding skills and code standards)
    - for the authors, it might encourage them to submit more files.

Wrap code fragments inside <pre> tags, like this:

<pre class="code">
a = magic(3);
sum(a)
</pre>

If you have a "<" character in your code, either follow it with a space or replace it with "&lt;" (including the semicolon).
