This week we are taking a break from Simulink features and capabilities to take a step back and look at the history of simulations.
What Is Simulation?
Sometimes it is good to take a step back and remember why we do simulations in the first place. What is simulation? What kind of problems can simulations help us solve? What kind of questions can simulations answer?
Who better to explain all that than a person who is not only a Simulink expert, but has also used simulations extensively for solving interesting and challenging engineering problems like designing a autopilot for Apollo Lunar Module and developing a digital flight control system for forward-swept wing X-29 aircraft. He even wrote a book titled Numerical Computing with Simulink!
Sit back and enjoy Dr. Richard Gran talking about about the history of simulation and how simulations help answer questions:
Mr. Rouleau Good day! I saw you in mathworks.com discussing about simulink in matlab I just thought if you can help me also. My problem is I want to make an image encryption using simulink in Matlab not only that you must also use chaotic maps like Tinkerbell map. I do not know where to start so please Mr. Rouleau help me. Thank you for your response
@Guy, Could you turn off vidoe’s autoplay? It’s a nice talk given by Dr. Gran, but not most convenient to have it played every time when your site’s is visited for another month.

Guy Rouleau and Seth Popinchalk are Application Engineers for MathWorks. They write here about Simulink and other MathWorks tools used in Model-Based Design.
Inspiring! Thanks for featuring this.
An awesome tutor. Such a simple, understandable explanation for the question ,why we need simulation ?. I love it. Thanks for sharing this video.
