Antarctic Ships, Fractal and Real

Antarctic Ships, Fractal and Real

David Wilson, from the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, has alerted me to this remarkable coincidence. Here is the "Burning Ship" from my post about fractals four weeks ago.

And here is a real photo, entitled The Long, Long Night, taken in August 1915 by Frank Hurley, of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shakleton's ship Endurance, frozen in the ice in the Weddell Sea.
