The new Current Directory Browser allows you to group your files into custom views by <b>Type<\/b>, <b>Size<\/b> or <b>Date Modified<\/b>.  Additionally, you can expand and collapse the groups to conveniently view portions of your directory at a time. For example, you could view all your MATLAB files by grouping by <b>Type<\/b>, and then collapsing all file types except MATLAB files. <\/p>\n<p>You can access the <b>Group By<\/b> option from the context menu of any column header in the Current Directory Browswer or via the <img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/desktop\/lori_tavis_become_a_groupie\/action_button.png\"> button. I think grouping by <b>Type<\/b> is the most useful grouping attribute:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a  href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/desktop\/lori_tavis_become_a_groupie\/group_by.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/desktop\/lori_tavis_become_a_groupie\/group_by_small.png\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>But grouping by <b>Date Modified<\/b> can be useful if you want to see what files you&#8217;ve been working on recently:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a  href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/desktop\/lori_tavis_become_a_groupie\/group_by_date.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/desktop\/lori_tavis_become_a_groupie\/group_by_date_small.png\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>To switch back to a flat list of files right-click a column header and select <b>Stop Grouping<\/b>.
