\nMathWorks team arrives at GHC18, Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing<\/em><\/p>\n

#shelovesmatlab is born<\/h2>\n

One day last March, we saw this tweet by Clea Zolotow, IBM Distinguished Engineer and Master Inventor:<\/p>\n

We felt so proud we posted Clea\u2019s tweet on Yammer powering our internal social network at MathWorks. Colleagues quickly jumped in, finding more awesome tweets by badass women who work with MATLAB. Together we brainstormed a way to celebrate the International Women\u2019s Day and Women\u2019s History Month.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s how we started #shelovesmatlab<\/a>: a hashtag to celebrate women who work with MATLAB code: to understand how the brain works, fight climate change, build spaceships\u2026 Check out some of those early tweets here<\/a>. One even made it onto this unique\u200a mug.<\/p>\n

At MathWorks, we work with amazing women role models of our own! Our first #shelovesmatlab tweet<\/a> was about a talk<\/a> announcing new Big Data features in MATLAB at Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. Read about that trip, and about coming back to GHC18 with a larger team here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yay to every one of you who\u2019s helping with #shelovesmatlab on Twitter<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, and LinkedIn<\/a>! You rock!<\/p>\n

Stickers<\/h2>\n

We wanted to show our #shelovesmatlab pride in real life, so we printed lots and lots of homemade laptop stickers, on shipping labels our Office Services friends let us have.<\/p>\n

Colleagues in Cambridge, UK and Tokyo, Japan made some of their own. We\u2019d love to have a picture of yours if you have one. Do you? We heard about them flying out of our colleagues\u2019 hands at conferences like Supercomputing, SC18! If you want one, let us know in the comments. Professionally-made #shelovesmatlab stickers have recently been carefully crafted. We\u2019re eager to share them!<\/p>\n

Posters<\/h2>\n

To help everyone see the work by women in engineering and science we\u2019ve been learning about with #shelovesmatlab, we designed posters and hung them on our office walls and in the hallways. Some of them traveled far, far away\u2026like these posters Becky Margetts<\/a> took back to her office at the University of Lincoln in the UK after her fantastic talk at the Women in Tech Ignite Breakfast at the MathWorks Research Summit!<\/p>\n

We\u2019re so happy to see MathWorks make women\u2019s t-shirts for GHC18, Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing,\u200a\u2014\u200aand now the official MathWorks t-shirt is available in women\u2019s sizes, with a #shelovesmatlab hashtag on the sleeve! Many people worked on this. Thank you all!<\/p>\n
