{"id":3719,"date":"2020-02-18T21:44:21","date_gmt":"2020-02-18T21:44:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/?p=3719"},"modified":"2021-04-06T15:49:03","modified_gmt":"2021-04-06T19:49:03","slug":"mathworks-gartner-magic-quadrant-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/2020\/02\/18\/mathworks-gartner-magic-quadrant-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"MathWorks Is a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<span style=\"font-family: Courier;\">This is a guest post from Paul Pilotte, technical marketing manager for AI, data science and deep learning.<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">We\u2019re pleased to have been named a \"Leader\" by Gartner this year, with the furthest placement for \"completeness of vision\" of all the Leaders in the quadrant. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/2019\/02\/06\/gartner-magic-quadrant\/\">Last year,<\/a> Gartner recognized MathWorks as a \"Visionary\", so in our opinion this move into the Leaders quadrant shows strong progress.<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">I wanted to share this news and talk about how, as a key player in the AI landscape, MathWorks thinks differently about AI.<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">AI continues to be a strategic priority for many companies.\u00a0 We certainly see this in the growing number of complex projects we\u2019ve helped our customers complete in the past year, and we expect this trend to continue.\u00a0 See these pages for examples of how customers are using MATLAB for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/solutions\/deep-learning.html\">deep learning<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/solutions\/machine-learning\/customer-success.html\">machine learning<\/a><\/span>.<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">We\u2019re seeing AI projects expand to include applications across image processing, computer vision, signal and audio processing, robotics, and control systems. The engineering and operations teams we work with are using MATLAB to <strong>incorporate AI across the entire system design workflow<\/strong>. Success in developing AI-enabled systems requires more than training an AI model: You also need high-quality data, engineers and scientists focused on AI, and an understanding of the complete AI workflow.<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"626\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3763 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/files\/2020\/02\/MQ-_resized-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">We believe our recognition as a Leader in Gartner's 2020 Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning demonstrates our ability to help organizations:<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Equip teams with limited AI or data science skills as well as those with advanced skills to apply AI successfully<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Incorporate AI across the complete system design workflow including data preparation, analytics and modeling, simulation and test, and production<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Deploy AI models on embedded devices, edge, enterprise systems, and the cloud<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Use Simulink to tackle system design, integration, and validation challenges when developing AI-driven systems<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">We continue to invest in creating tools and solutions to make it easy to design and build models, train and visualize networks, and deploy models to more hardware targets as well as enterprise systems and cloud.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a sample of what\u2019s new in MATLAB for deep learning:<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Automate labeling data including images, videos, signals, and audio recordings<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Graphically design and analyze deep learning using the Deep Network Designer app<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Build advanced network architectures like GANs, Siamese networks, attention networks, and variational autoencoders<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Import and export models with other deep learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow and PyTorch) using the ONNX model format<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Train reinforcement learning policies to implement controllers and decision-making algorithms for complex systems such as robots and autonomous systems<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">Automate deployment of inference models to CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">See the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/solutions\/deep-learning\/features.html\">Latest Features<\/a><\/span> for more and keep an eye out for our upcoming R2020a release.<\/span>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: calibri;\">There\u2019s much more to come.
