I\u2019ll highlight specific posts and features from 2018 that are worth a second look.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<!--more-->\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; color: #007399;\"><strong>Deep learning for ...<\/strong><\/span>\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">We\u2019re excited to report we\u2019ve been spending lots of time here on new functions, examples, and videos for different deep learning application areas. This is a great intro for anyone just getting started. <\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">I created a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/videos\/what-is-computer-vision--1542876661809.html\">What is Computer Vision<\/a>\u201d video, that just went live recently, (special thanks to our video team!)<\/span> This is for the beginner crowd interested in computer vision, so this may not be as relevant to this group!<\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Along the same line, there's a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/videos\/what-is-machine-learning--1539283415002.html\">What is Machine Learning<\/a> video, created by <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/loren\/\">Loren Shure<\/a>. We released a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/campaigns\/offers\/deep-learning-try-in-browser.html\">Deep Learning Browser Example<\/a><\/strong>, which allows you to try out a simple example to experience what deep learning with MATLAB would look like. This is great for beginners and people who don't have access to MATLAB yet (no license required to try this example). Tell your friends! <\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/ul>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; color: #007399;\"><strong>New Features!<\/strong><\/span>\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Every year, we have 2 releases of our product. This year brought us R2018a and R2018b. <\/span> (We\u2019re pretty predictable on the names).\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">For R2018a, one of the highlight features was the Deep Learning Network Analyzer which Steve blogged about here: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/2018\/04\/30\/deep-learning-network-analyzer\/\">https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/2018\/04\/30\/deep-learning-network-analyzer\/<\/a>,<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Although Network Analyzer was released in R2018a, it\u2019s worth noting that this feature is now part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/help\/deeplearning\/ug\/build-networks-with-deep-network-designer.html\">Deep Network Designer App<\/a>. You can now import networks into the app, and use the network analyzer to check the connections.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Steve wrote a relevant post for more R2018a highlights <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/deep-learning\/2018\/04\/16\/new-deep-learning-features-in-r2018a\/\">here<\/a><\/span>. <\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">In<strong> R2018b<\/strong>, we decided to try something different and used a video approach instead. Gabriel did an excellent job highlighting the important features of 18b, along with some of the key features from recent releases. You can find the video on the solutions page, or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/videos\/what-s-new-in-deep-learning-with-matlab--1538033402292.html\">this link<\/a><\/span> directly to the video.<\/span><em> Please be aware this video plays automatically, which made me jump out of my seat with my speaker up too loudly!<\/em><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h6><\/h6>\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<h3>Final Thoughts<\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">As we head into the new year, I like to take stock of what went well during the past year and what we can do better.\r\nMy goal for the new year is to increase the frequency of posts and start posting shorter content as it becomes available.<strong><em> I\u2019m looking for suggestions <\/em><\/strong>on what you\u2019d like to see more and\/or less of.<\/span>\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Also, do you agree with my top 4 list?
