The MATLAB R2026b pre-release is available now and it includes a completely new object management system <\/span>that is not turned on by default.<\/span> When switched on, the new system promises to make object oriented MATLAB code faster <\/span>without the need to change any code (most of the time)<\/span>. Sometimes, it will be <\/span>much<\/span> faster!<\/span><\/div>
This is a big change to the language execution back-end of MATLAB and there's a lot to unpack. This is the first in a series of articles that will give you an idea of what to expect, when to expect it and what we mean when we say that you won't need to change any code 'most of the time.'<\/span><\/div>

Release timeline<\/span><\/h2>
For most people, most of the time, code changes <\/span>will not<\/span> be required. The cases where code changes may be required as outlined below. However, this is a big change to MATLAB\u2019s execution engine, so we are staging the changes as follows:<\/span><\/div>
