BankfullMapper<\/span><\/span><\/a> was nominated as Pick of the Week by <\/span>Kostas<\/span> Leptokaropoulos<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>Kostas<\/span> is the MathWorks Geoscience Academic Discipline Manager, supporting Geoscience users and is my go-to guy whenever I need to work with this discipline.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\r\n

Introduced in July 2025 at Computers and <\/span>Geosciences<\/span><\/a>, BankfullMapper is is a brand-new addition to the Topotoolbox<\/a> family. <\/span>The toolbox offers the capability to perform time-dependent monitoring of river geometry. It enables users to estimate bankfull geometry and discharge using high-resolution terrain data. This is critical for assessing long-term channel evolution, sediment transport, and floodplain behavior, especially in light of increasingly dynamic flow regimes.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

To demonstrate the capabilities of BankfullMapper, the author uses a case study from the Potenza River in Italy, available at the repository (<\/span>GitHub<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and <\/span>File Exchange<\/span><\/a>).
