Simulink just too often adds bends in situations where a straight line would be perfect. A typical situation: You move a block just too far, Simulink adds some bends. After that, you move it back again (or to a better position, where straight lines would be perfect again), but Simulink already had introduced so many bends, that now it is just a mess. Especially at bus creators, cleaning up a model quite often requires signals to be removed at all and draw it again from scratch, as you can specify positions for custom bends, but not positions for not creating automatic bends.

There are situations, where this algorithm is smart, but there are more simtuations, where it just isn’t. This way, it is just unusable (e.g. it destroys a clean model layout just by moving blocks a little bit). What’s the current state for being able to switch automatic line routing off (e.g. button, keyboard shortcut, command, model setting)?

I want a way to disable this “feature”. I spend more time fixing the automatic line routing than any other activity I perform in Simulink. Please, let me turn this off.

Autorouting needs to have an option to turn it off. It’s making a complete disaster out of my models which are all rather large and complicated. Instead of saving time it’s costing me many hours of additional pointless labor to clean up what were once neat, clean diagrams. I like the toolset but deploying a feature before it’s ready seems to happen too often. Disappointing.

That thing doesn’t consider other lines when routing. In result we have a net of crossing lines. They were being routed better in old version.

We really need an option to turn this feature OFF. It works for simple cases, but for replacing blocks, or when I actually want the line to go across a given block (i.e. subsystem) the routing always does a terrible job. I need for those cases to be able to turn it OFF, and then turn it back on whenever I need it.

It might work fine for students drawing simple models from scratch, but obioulsly the kids that came up with this one didn’t understand all the editing use cases. PLEASE GIVE US A WAY TO TRUN IT OFF and enable what worked in ’12 and back. I need to be able to use cursors to jog signals, also.

I hate to say it, but this autorouting is the biggest POS to come out of MathWorks in years…

It causes much more rework than it saves. In my personal experience working in 2012b and R13 concurrently, R13 does a significantly better job routing large numbers of lines than 2012b.
