{"id":148,"date":"2011-08-30T20:53:17","date_gmt":"2011-08-30T20:53:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/seth\/2011\/08\/30\/controlling-signal-logging-from-model-explorer\/"},"modified":"2011-08-30T20:53:17","modified_gmt":"2011-08-30T20:53:17","slug":"controlling-signal-logging-from-model-explorer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/simulink\/2011\/08\/30\/controlling-signal-logging-from-model-explorer\/","title":{"rendered":"Controlling signal logging from Model Explorer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I want to share a useful trick to control <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/help\/releases\/R2011a\/toolbox\/simulink\/ug\/bsxca4i-1.html\">signal logging<\/a> using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/help\/releases\/R2011a\/toolbox\/simulink\/ug\/bsf8967-1.html\">Model Explorer<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Enabling Logging from the Signal Properties dialog<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Until recently, to enable logging of signals I was right-clicking each signal individually and enabling them one by one, using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/help\/releases\/R2011a\/toolbox\/simulink\/gui\/bra_33l.html\">Signal Properties dialog<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/seth\/2011Q3\/EnableLogging.png\" alt=\"Enabling Signal Logging from the Signal Properties dialog\"><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>This is convenient if you have only a few signals to log. However this is annoying if you need to enable logging for many signals. Here is another way to do that.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Enabling Signal Logging from Model Explorer<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The first thing to notice is that in Model Explorer, you have a set of predefined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/help\/releases\/R2011a\/toolbox\/simulink\/ug\/bsow49o.html#bso3zeo-1\">Column Views<\/a> pre-configured for common tasks. Since we want to configure a property of signals, let's select the <strong>Signals<\/strong> configuration.<\/p> \r\n\r\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.mathworks.com\/images\/seth\/2011Q3\/ColumnView.png\" alt=\"Displaying signal properties in the Model Explorer\"><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>In this mode, you will see a <strong>DataLogging<\/strong> column. Click on the top of the first column to group the named signals together. Use Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click as in any other Windows application to select all the signals you want to log.
