MathWorks<\/span><\/a>\u00a0recently partnered with Swedish collaboration hub\u00a0<\/span>MobilityXlab<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to bring forth\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Future Mobility Awards<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0The two\u00a0organizations\u00a0have offices just\u00a0minutes away\u00a0within\u00a0the\u00a0global hub of\u00a0automotive engineering\u00a0of Gothenburg, Sweden.\u00a0Teams from both companies\u00a0came\u00a0together with the goal\u00a0to\u00a0recognize startups across the globe who are advancing and innovating solutions in mobility and transportation.\u00a0The awards were split into four key categories: Sustainability, AI for Safety, Connectivity and Virtual Development.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Working with\u00a0some of the\u00a0leading\u00a0automotive\u00a0corporations and\u00a0MobilityXlab\u00a0partners,\u00a0Timian Goldbeck-Wood of MathWorks said,\u00a0\u201cTogether we felt that these four categories represent the megatrends that are really shaping the future of the mobility industry. And with that we\u00a0believe\u00a0that the startups that are nominated and the winners can really be seen to be\u00a0at\u00a0the leading edge of transforming the way that [we]\u00a0will\u00a0engage with mobility in the future.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The winn<\/span>ing startups<\/span>\u00a0were chosen\u00a0<\/span>by<\/span>\u00a0a panel of expert judges including leaders from CEVT, Ericsson,\u00a0<\/span>Veoneer<\/span>, Volvo Cars, Volvo Group,\u00a0<\/span>Zenseact<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(formerly Zenuity)<\/span>\u00a0and MathWorks. MathWorks\u00a0<\/span>presented\u00a0<\/span>the Virtual Development\u00a0<\/span>award<\/span>\u00a0with\u00a0<\/span>judging<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>chaired\u00a0<\/span>by<\/span>\u00a0European consulting lead Chris Hayhur<\/span>s<\/span>t.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

H<\/span>ayhurst discussed\u00a0three technology revolutions he sees as driving future mobility. \u201cFirst, software is central to the megatrends of future mobility… secondly, it\u2019s clear that complexity is increasing as customers demand new features and new services and experiences in every product\u00a0they purchase, driving more connective systems inside\u00a0and outside vehicles\u2026lastly, artificial intelligence has moved from research to implementation and production, creating the need for vast amount of data and good quality data to train these systems.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Virtual development is essential for all three revolutions and MathWorks is creating the tools\u00a0to make it easy for domain experts to do that development.\u00a0-Chris Hayhurst\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

On October 6th<\/span><\/sup>, the winners were announced during a hybrid in person<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>virtual awards ceremony.<\/span>\u00a0The winning companies will receive a monetary prize as well as exclusive coaching from industry experts<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Selected\u00a0<\/span>out of<\/span>\u00a0over<\/span>\u00a080 startups\u00a0<\/span>from\u00a0<\/span>across the world<\/span>, t<\/span>he\u00a0<\/span>four\u00a0<\/span>winning startups<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>chosen\u00a0<\/span>for\u00a0<\/span>advancements<\/span>\u00a0in their respective categories\u00a0<\/span>are<\/span>:<\/span><\/p>\n
