Five years ago: March and April 2006
Much of the information I posted in this blog years ago is still useful today. Image processing theory hasn't been completely overturned since then, and I'm still talking about MATLAB after all. For the benefit of readers who have joined the party more recently, I will occasionally recap the useful bits that I posted about five years ago.
In March 2006:
- I explained what to do when your publisher demands that you provide your figures as "300 DPI TIFFs."
- I explained how to get notified about new blog posts. The link for the RSS feed is on the topnav of the page.
- I demonstrated the use of true and false to initialize binary image matrices.
- I posted imoverlay on the MATLAB Central File Exchange. This function creates a color image by overlaying a binary image mask on another image, with the mask pixels displayed with a user-specified color.
In April 2006:
- On April 1st I posted a preview of upcoming optimizations in the Image Processing Toolbox. We later had to change our plans, though, so maybe this post isn't as relevant to readers today. I'll let you decide.
- I continued my two series on geometric transformations and pixel colors.
- I showed a creative use of ordfilt2 to determine which image pixels had local maxima that weren't unique.
