MATLAB Expo in the UK: Agentically engineered table centerpieces
As part of last week's MATLAB Expo in the UK, MathWorker James Drummond was given the task of creating the table centrepieces.
They were modeled in Blender with the help of Codex (GPT-6 Astra), connected through the Blender MCP. Here's one of the Blender renderings:

There was plenty of trial and error along the way, with each round of design iterations managing to burn through Jame's' five-hour Codex usage limit. James also had to take a small liberty with the MATLAB logo membrane, increasing its footprint to improve bed adhesion and make it more practical to 3D print. As such, they are not 100% mathematically accurate but the final results looked fantastic

Each table number then took around 10 hours to 3D print, making them a surprisingly substantial little project. They proved popular at the Expo, though, with attendees taking them all home afterwards, complete with Ned Gulley’s signature.
Coming up: MATLAB Expo Online
If you've missed the in-person MATLAB-EXPO events or if you just can't get enough EXPO in your life, sign up to the MATLAB Expo Online which is taking place from November 4-5. There might not be any MATLAB table centrepieces for you to acquire but there will be presentations on:
- AI and Agentic AI
- Digital Engineering and Model-Based Design
- Cloud, CI/CD, and DevOps
- Electrification and Energy Systems
- Robotics and Autonomous Systems
The full agenda can be found at MATLAB EXPO 2026 | Agenda
