The spirit of winter olympics continues

Jiro's Pick this week is BingDunDun by idMatlab.
It's been almost 10 days since the close of the Beijing Olympic Winter Games. Which sport were you following? For me, curling is something that I enjoy watching every 4 years. When I see curling, I immediately get pulled into the winter olympics atmosphere. If you would like to play a virtual game of curling, give the Curling Game App a try. Also, learn about some of the details of the app in this blog post.
As you may know, BingDunDun is the mascot for the Beijing Olympic. idMatlab created this entry to recreate the image of BingDunDun. What's interesting about this entry is that the mascot is drawn almost entirely by ellipse segments. You can see that his drawing code calls a helper function that draws different ellipses.

It's quite impressive how he found the appropriate set of parameters to make those ellipse segments connect with one another. Very nice!
